New Platform for Young Designers
Design students, illustrators, and graphic designers can offer their works as posters for sale.
The graphic design scene in Switzerland has a lot to offer. Big names are based in Lucerne, Zurich, and Bern. Yet many young talents are emerging, producing outstanding work that often remains trapped and unseen in the digital world.
Plakativ.store aims to change exactly that, according to a press release. The joint venture between Kurzbild and Neum Collective provides young designers with a stage where they can upload their work, have it seen, and earn good money with their art. All posters are printed on demand in an environmentally friendly way, and each sale generates a direct profit of 20 francs for the artist — “a record within the industry,” as stated in the release.
Profit is not the main focus. “This is not about creating a short-lived e-commerce business. This is a platform for Swiss — and later European — artists whose remarkable work deserves to be seen,” says Dino Reichmuth, founder of Plakativ, in the statement.
Plakativ.store is a C2C platform where artists can upload their works, and fans or consumers can order posters to enhance their living spaces. The system is described as “as simple as it is brilliant, and fully automated.” Printing is handled by a third-party partner.
The store has been online since the end of March 2022. “The fan base is still limited to a few hundred people, but we’re thrilled by how many artists have already joined and excited for them about the number of sales we received during the very first weekend after launch,” says Reichmuth. (pd/cbe)
