Can I run ChatGPT ads in Switzerland?
Yes. ChatGPT advertising opened in 31 European markets on 24 August 2026, Switzerland among them, and OpenAI extended self service access through the Ads Manager to all 31 markets on 31 August 2026. Businesses register at ads.openai.com. Booking through OpenAI's Ads Solutions team and through agency and technology partners remains available alongside it.
What do ChatGPT ads cost in Switzerland?
Bidding runs on CPM, CPC and conversion optimised CPC, so you pay per thousand impressions or per click and set your own budget. Public Swiss benchmarks for click and thousand-contact prices do not exist yet, the channel is weeks old. We start with a defined test budget rather than a forecast, and anyone quoting you a reliable Swiss cost per click today is guessing.
How do I get a ChatGPT advertising account?
You register your company at ads.openai.com and we are added as users with the rights we need. The account, the data and the campaign history stay with your company, not with us. OpenAI reviews the account and the category manually before it is cleared to run, and that review covers your landing page as well as your ads.
Do I need an agency, or can I book it myself?
You can book it yourself since 31 August 2026. Buying the placement is a form and a payment method. What decides whether the channel pays is the part after that: getting the category through the policy review, building a campaign around your offer instead of a template, writing ads that do not disrupt a conversation, and above all the page the click lands on. That is the work we take on.
Who actually sees ads inside ChatGPT?
Only users on the Free and Go tiers. Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions stay ad-free. That matters for reach planning: the more your audience skews toward paying subscribers, the smaller the addressable pool, which is why we size the opportunity before we recommend a budget.
How does targeting work without keywords?
Through the context of the conversation that is running rather than through booked search terms. OpenAI has added geographic targeting and custom audiences to the platform. In Europe, personalised advertising rests on explicit user consent, and users can control ad personalisation themselves. Advertising never influences what ChatGPT answers.
Can I measure conversions from ChatGPT?
Yes. OpenAI has extended measurement beyond clicks with the OpenAI Pixel, a Conversions API and integrations with third-party measurement solutions, so purchases, sign-ups and leads can be recorded and campaigns optimised on conversions. We set that up alongside GA4 and Tag Manager and report ChatGPT Ads next to Google and Meta in one view, so you see what the new channel actually contributes.
Do advertisers see my chats?
No. OpenAI states that it protects conversations from advertisers and never sells customer data. Advertisers receive aggregated, non-personal reporting. Ads are always clearly labelled and separated from ChatGPT's answers, and they do not influence what the answer says.
Is this the same as being mentioned in ChatGPT answers?
No, and the difference matters. Being cited in an answer is organic visibility, earned through content, structured data and entity consistency. That is generative engine optimisation. Advertising is a paid placement below the answer, labelled as sponsored. The two are separate levers on the same surface, and we work on both.
What is ChatGPT Shopping?
A product surface inside ChatGPT where items can appear directly in a conversation. It is a separate mechanism from advertising and depends far more on clean, complete product data than on budget. For retailers it is often the more relevant near-term question than ads.
